Disgusting behaviour from a shop owner - legal and police are now involved.We visited Sloane watches and jewellers in Southsea, Hampshire to purchase our wedding rings recently. We decided to have my fiances engagement ring altered as well as purchasing a ring for myself from the Jewellers.We paid a 300 deposit by debit card on the day that we decided to go through with it.From there, we have had no end of issues with the jewellers in question. Initially, they promised to send us designs before doing any work to the ring but this didn't happen. They then altered the ring (I paid 2,600 for it last year) without checking with us first. The alterations they made were nothing like the alterations that we discussed so, upon inspecting the ring, we asked that they returned it to its original state. The jewellers finally agreed to do it after a very long and difficult discussion.We were promised that the ring would be ready in 3 days, but it actually took a little over 2 weeks. My fiance went to collect the ring from the jewellers today but was very unhappy with the work carried out, as the ring has been badly damaged. We have now decided that we don't want to purchase either ring from the jewellers but when my Fiance suggested a refund for wedding ring (which was just out the window and had no adjustments made) the jewellers became totally irate and unreasonable, verbally abusive, and ended up throwing her out of the shop. Fortunately she managed to pick up her ring before being forced out.If the brother of "Sam" hadn't had been there my fianc feels as if she would have been assaulted. We are now taking legal advice, our bank is making a chargeback and a complaint has been made with the police due to his manner with possible charges.
We had a very bad experience at this shop. My wife took in a Saint Christopher to get engraved. She was told to leave it with them and they would call her with a price for the work. When we dropped in the next day, she was told that they had already engraved the item and we owed them 55. No quote was given, no price agreed beforehand. We had to pay full price to get the item back. Very underhand, not how you do business. Be very careful with this shop. I will tell all of my friends not to use this shop.
