Extraordinary. I felt like I'd stepped back in time to the setting of an Agatha Cristie book, right down the old fashioned lift with the pull aside safety gate. Room lovely. View to the right was HMS Warrior, to the left The Spinnaker Tower - terrific. And the breakfast was sumptuous. The downside, from outside it looks like a condemned building, inside it's plush but dated
Amazing location to rail, bus, shopping Wharf and just down the road to the Historic Dock Yard. The room VERY dated, if you can see past the decor you will enjoy the visit. Clean bedding, very good breakfast and helpful staff.
Love this places position, over looks harbour, next to National Maritime museum by Gunwharf Keys shopping centre and dont forget the bus and train station across the road. What more could you ask for including history in the hotel with a comfortable bed, night drink in the bar and a good breakfast in the morning.
This hotel is a real gem that could really do with some love being showered upon it. The decor is tired and dated, and in places pealing away, however that said, this is just surface problems that should be ignored, as the building it self is amazing, with really high ceilings, mosaic panels in the floors and comfortable furnishings.You have to be aware that if you have a harbour facing room, then the local wildlife can be quite noisy, more so over the weekends, but you are rewarded with a wonderful view out over the harbour and HMS Warrior.All the staff are friendly and helpful, car parking is free in an adjoining car park. You are but minutes away from the Portsmouth night life.
