Hilsea is located in the Hilsea area of Portsmouth, the station is served by Southern and Southwest Trains, with additional services provided by Great Western Railways. Hilsea is among one of my favourite stations, it's clean, most trains stop here, announcements are clear, the station is up to date and the neighbourhood is quiet.
Basic station.
Small and slightly shabby station used mainly by weekday commuters.
This station, although small, and lacking in facilities, is probably the best station in Hilsea. The area is mainly industrial, with urban conurbations spring up on the periphery of the industrial areas. The station platforms are also quite dangerous, as the width of the platforms are less than the recommended SWT safety width. Can barely walk 2 abreast on the platforms, so on a busy day extra care should be exercised.
