The worker at the station was very helpful and friendly. He was on a break but helped me nonetheless after looking confused in front of the departure boards for a while. I wish I could remember his name so he could get credit. There is nice waiting area down the ramp by the ferries bound for Wight that is heated.

Station is absolutely disgusting. Chewing gum all over platform surface, dark rotting wooden cover and really grotty. Let's down Portsmouth and doesn't create a good impression as it's the first thing tourists and visitors see on arrival, it's a shame as there are so many nice attractions nearby.
Incompetent staff, don't know how to read a timetable or apply rail discount... Perhaps it was her first day? None the less, I'm out of pocket and I nearly missed my train
Great position. Takes you to the heart of the action. Naval Museum, shopping, food & drink, and great walks along the harbour wall. Regular trains. Cafe.
