Fascinating first world war ship. Sole surviving vessel from the Gallipoli campaign out in the Dardenelles. Restored beautifully. M33 isn't much of a HM ship's name unlike the others in the fleet but she served her country well in WW1. Decorated in its camouflaged paint to decoy enemies on its actual size from a distance to avoid being hit or torpedoed.
A very interesting boat with lots to see
M33 isn't much of a HM ship's name unlike the others in the fleet but she served her country well in WW1. Decorated in its camouflaged paint to decoy enemies on its actual size from a distance to avoid being hit or torpedoed. They turned the lower decks into a chilling theatre with excellent acoustics. Access to the top decks is pretty open with the ability for the visitor to go into the tight hallways and take a peek into some of the officer bunks, kitchens, loos, etc. Also neat that they had a ship's dog named Squab that belonged to the skipper and a ship's cat that belonged to the crew. Added colour to the otherwise grey story of war.One suggestion, the front canon should be turned away as it's pointed right at HMS Victory. It looks like bad luck and I've never met a squabbie that's not the least bit superstitious.

Interesting history of this ship. Has a role in a documentary on National Geographic about its role at Gallipoli. Worth a visit.
