A virtual holy place for those with an interest in Maritime History. I was saddened to visit when her masts and rigging had been removed. It was an absolute thrill nonetheless. Special thanks to the duty officer for helping a member of our group more than once on our tour round.
Spent at least an hour within this boat. Fantasticly laid out so you manage to wander every space on every deck. Great insight into Nelson's time. Great staff too, very engaging and informative.
If you know anything about the nation's nautical history, you would need to visit the Victory. An excellent job in preserving the ship and lovely little touches that makes your visit comparable to that of actually boarding the ship when it was in her prime. The visit is great for both the young and old, do ask the volunteers for information on deck, they are friendly, precise, and a fountain of knowledge to make your visit more in every way.
Historical, amazing ship.Currently though she looks from the outside a little bare due to her masts and rigging having been removed because of major renovations and repair work currently being carried out. The ship though still tells us an incredible story. A must see.
So good we visited twice - in busy, hot August & now November. Had first seen in the 60s as a child when sailors did the tours. Free audio guide very good but don't miss the Nelson plaque on quarterdeck as you come up the steps near beginning - can't easily retrace your steps to see it at the end.
